How do you care for your Moonstone?
Your Moonstone pieces should be handled with care so they don't chip or break.
Moonstone can be placed under running water or soaked in soapy water. Do not leave it in prolonged water or salt water.
Beware that if there are natural fractures or veins in the stone, these may be spots of weakness when subjected to water, heat, or chemicals. When in doubt, use a soft cloth or soft brush, depending on your piece. Either way, make sure your stone is completely dry before storage.
Do not store it near items harder than 6 on the Mohs Scale of Hardness to avoid scratches. Avoid harsh chemicals and ultrasonic cleaners, so you don't break your stone.

Sheila's personal experience with Moonstone
Like most people, I am mesmerized by Rainbow Moonstone. The flashes are magical. I love to look for the rainbows in my Moonstone piece whenever I am feeling uninspired. The mysterious shine shows me that there's always a glimmer of hope, no matter the state of the world.
I was later introduced to Black Moonstone. This is a rarer gemstone, making it automatically more attractive. Plus, being a dark color, it is easy to wear for most people who prefer wearing black clothing!
I also have Moonstone jewelry that I love to wear when I travel. It's one of the popular travel stones to ensure a pleasant journey.

Lisa's personal experience with Moonstone
Moonstone is one of the crystals I've used actively and consistently over the years. At the beginning of my crystal healing journey, I didn't find any connection to Moonstone at all. It most likely had to do with the fact that most Moonstones come in light pastel colors, and I have an attraction to the bolder stones. Yet as I learned more about Moonstone and began to use it, it became an impressive and important part of my daily life.
I first turned to Moonstone for feminine energy. I have always had wild hormones that follow their own rules and a pretty masculine personality. When I decided I should pay attention to my feminine side, I remembered that Moonstone was the crystal to help.
I got a special Moonstone necklace that I wore often. I started seeking out Moonstone at gem shows. That's when I learned about brilliant Black Moonstone- one of my favorites! I even started noticing the Moon and studied up on the Supermoon, Blue Moon, and other lunar phenomena. By the end of it, I was totally hooked.
Now I'm so into Moonstone and the Moon, you can find this crystal mentioned more often than any other stone on our website. This has to do with Moonstone's undeniable connection to the Moon. It is the key player in our New Moon Divinations, Full Moon articles, and our crystal astrology reports, too.
Moonstone is as radiant and crucial as the moon above.
How do I use Moonstone in divination?
Drawing Moonstone in a gemstone divination session means:
You need self-care.
Stop your daily grind, even just for two minutes. Close your eyes, breathe deep, hold on tight to your Moonstone, and relax.
Magical Incantation of Moonstone
This is a message from Moonstone from Doreen Virtue and Judith Lukomski's book "Crystal Therapy":
"I am a talisman for women with my ever-present moon energy that surrounds my friends, enhancing their femininity and beauty. I captivate those who gaze at me, inducing a quiet feeling of sensuality and a calling to soul-mate partnership. Male/female balance is essential, for when you live in coordination of yin and yang principles, the universal flow moves without interruption, allowing consistent support and attracting experiences and people that encourage your purpose and focus. Although I'm an influence with feminine power (nurturer, creator, and lover), all humans can feel and share in these roles; thus my vibration is a tribute to the breadth of your possibilities."

Where does Moonstone come from?
Moonstone is found in several locations around the world, including India, Brazil, Australia, Mexico, the USA, Madagascar, and Armenia.
How is Moonstone formed?
Moonstone forms from magma deep in the Earth, creating intergrown minerals with a glowing effect known as adularescence.
Moonstone forms through the intermixing of two distinct minerals – orthoclase and albite, under intense pressure and high temperatures.
The minerals separate into layers during cooling, a process called exsolution. The subsequent layers diffract and scatter light, creating the misty, glowing effect that Moonstone is prized for.
