Social History: The sender, "M.A.V.", writes to Mr. Wallace J. Landry in Thorp, Wisconsin:

"Sue, Elsie and I came down this noon... Came by your home last evening about 10:15. Blew the horn. I knew you wouldn't hear but I did, anyway. We were to Hedler's for the evening. With a world of bewildering wishes, yours sincerely, M.A.V."

The mention of "blowing the horn" at 10:15 PM suggests they were traveling in an early automobile—a true luxury and novelty in 1916.

Scene: This card depicts the original Glen-Nor High School, which served the boroughs of Glenolden and Norwood starting in 1921. The school is famous locally for its 1940 "perfect season" in football. In 1955, the district merged with Prospect Park to form the Interboro School District. The building itself was used until 1976 and was tragically demolished in 1990 to make way for residential housing. This card is a rare visual record of a community landmark that no longer stands.
