Vintage Postcard Travel Story Poor Friendly Camels Valley Queens Egypt Nefertari
Social History: Sent to "Mr. A. Ward" in Poole, Dorset, England, the postcard is a wonderful record of the Egyptian tourist trail during a peak era of archaeological interest:
"Dear Uncle Victor, It is very beautiful, people friendly, but also very poor here. The temples + tombs are very colourful with well preserved paintings. The Red Sea was wonderful so clear + blue + the fishes so pretty. The Nile keeps everything very green + very dry elsewhere. The weather is very very hot. Aswan Dam tomorrow + Cairo + Pyramids on Wednesday so I’ll take care with the camels! Christine xxx"
