These are official United States Postal Stationery Cards (historically called stamped cards). Unlike traditional postcards that require a separate adhesive stamp to be applied, these feature the 19c Canyon de Chelly postage design pre-printed directly onto the paper by the government.
Issued in August 1994 at Chinle, Arizona, this release was part of the United States Postal Service's efforts to promote the National Parks and iconic American natural landmarks through its "America the Beautiful" series. Located entirely within the Navajo Nation, Canyon de Chelly holds immense archeological, cultural, and historical significance.
