Social History: Mailed just one day before New Year's Eve to Mr Maurice Howden in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, the message touches on the classic Scottish tradition of Hogmanay:

"Had snow for Christmas day & cold, now very dismal. Hope you had a good time over Christmas & behave at New Year. Be seeing you soon."
