Vintage Postcard 1963 Circled Hotel Coleman Lewistown PA West Market Street
Social History: Mailed to Miss Carol Jacobs, 704 Hollen Road, Baltimore 12, MD with a circled looping blue ink circle drawn by the sender over the multi-story Hotel Coleman building on the left side of the front illustration:
"Dear Carol, The Hotel Coleman is circled on the front. This is a fairly realistic picture. The monument is on the square which is the "garden spot of America. See you Wed."
Scene: The front of the card captures a classic mid-century American main street scene, showcasing vintage automobiles, historical storefronts, and the local post office flying the US flag.
Postal: A perfectly struck, bold circular town cancellation from Lewistown, PA. Features a highly collectible, crisp box cancellation reading: "PRAY / FOR / PEACE." This cancel was deployed across US post offices during the height of Cold War nuclear tensions in the early 1960s.
