Social History: A wonderful handwritten travel log to Clifford Mahoney in Bellevue, Mich. The sender, "Pete," describes an impressive "550 miles yesterday" and notes they are currently in Waterloo, NY. 

This card captures the quintessential 1950s road trip experience. While the image is of the Canadian side, the card was carried across the border to be mailed from New York, a common practice for travelers "doing" the falls from both sides.

Scene: The scene features "Two Young Visitors" in the foreground, providing a human scale to the massive cascade. The vivid, hand-retouched colors capture the magical atmosphere of the nightly illumination ceremonies that defined the Niagara Falls tourist experience in the 1950s.
