Scene: Old St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Norfolk, Virginia, built in 1739, is famously known as the only colonial-era building to survive the devastating fire and bombardment of Norfolk by Lord Dunmore's British fleet on New Year's Day, 1776. A legendary detail noted on the reverse is the cannonball still embedded in the church's brickwork from that attack.
