Personal story: I sourced these two pieces from a woman living in village north of Budapest. They were hand-embroidered in the 1980s by her mother. When her mother was young, she and her siblings were taught the Kalocsai tradition from their mother.

• Condition: Excellent vintage quality. Consistent with their 40-year history, the textiles feature a greyish-off-white patina—a natural sign of age that adds character while the structural integrity and embroidery remain in great condition

• Richelieu Border: The circular frames are meticulously hand-cut and reinforced with delicate thread "bars" (brides) and cross-hatched webbing, a hallmark of high-skill needlework.

• Embroidary Design: The center features dense, textured stitching of vibrant roses and buds in a bold palette of deep red, bright pink, violet, and sunny yellow. A sophisticated floral composition makes these a perfect matching set for bedside tables or display cabinets.
