The front image captures a vintage steam train engine actively chugging along one of the highest tiers of the mountain switchbacks.

The Argentine Central Railway was a tourist and mining line constructed in 1905, reaching an astounding elevation near Mount McClellan and Gray's Peak.
Coined the "Stairway to the Clouds," it utilized an extreme series of steep switchbacks carved into the rugged mountain slopes to transport sightseers and silver ore.
The line went bankrupt and was dismantled before World War I, making early photographic records of its precarious tracks highly prized by railroad historians.
