Step deep into early 20th-century history with this 2-piece lot of authentic German Empire 20 Mark banknotes. Known historically as wartime "Darlehenskassenscheine" and Imperial Reichsbanknotes, they were widely used to help stabilize the domestic German economy during the strain of global war.

Features an intricate composition of two classical, muscular allegorical figures crouching on the sides, pouring massive horn-shaped cornucopias overflowing with coins. The reverse showcases contrasting portraits of a working German man looking outward and a classical woman looking down in deep thought under a starry night sky.

Security: When held up directly to a light source, an intricate, interwoven watermark displaying the number "20" embedded within scrolling plant tendrils becomes visible across the central blank areas.
