Social History: Mailed by a woman named Mary from Rockwood, Tennessee to Miss S. Forest in Chicago, IL, the heartfelt message apologizes for "shaky" handwriting and a delay in writing since Christmas due to health reasons. It represents the "social lifeline" role postcards played for those homebound in mid-century America.

Scene: Canada Lily (Lilium canadense), also known as the Wild Yellow Lily. The American Nature Association, famous for publishing Nature Magazine, produced these "approved" cards to ensure scientific accuracy in public nature studies. These were often distributed to schools, garden clubs, and environmental groups during the early Conservation Movement in America.

Era: Photochrome
Type: Lithograph
Size: Standard 3.5 x 5.5"
Artist: Kathleen Cassel, noted 20th-century botanical watercolorist
Publisher: Barton-Cotton, Inc., Baltimore, MD
