Social History: Mailed from Potlatch, Idaho, which in 1909 was a brand-new "company town" built around what was then the world’s largest white pine sawmill. The message provides a rare look at the agricultural side of this timber-centric community. Mailed to Mrs. Mary Peterson in Garfield, Washington, only about 20 miles away:

"Dear Mother! I am sending you a package...Hope you folks are on the mend. When are you coming? Pearl sent us some candy. I will save some of it till you come if you come right away but it is too good to keep. George has his wheat sowed and is working on the oats ground. I have one hen sitting...I get from 9 to 11 eggs a day from 12 hens...Please send the egg dye if you can get it. Write soon - Lena"

Scene"To Dear Mother" embossed floral greeting featuring violets and ivy.

Era: Early 1900s (Divided Back)

Size: Standard 3.5 x 5.5"

Type: Heavy Embossed Lithograph, marked "Printed in Germany."

Condition: The card has excellent relief. There is some minor "postal ink" smudging on the top right of the back and typical light corner wear. The handwriting is very dense but highly legible.
