This exquisite 5-piece vintage collection showcases regional handwork that brings timeless European textile artistry into your home. The set features a matching pair of circular Kalocsa doilies popping with vibrant wildflower hand-embroidery and signature Richelieu lace openwork cutouts. Complementing the colorful folk art are three antiqued-white masterworks: an elongated Zsinórcsipke Transylvanian cord lace accent, a meticulously patterned Csetneki crochet lace square, and a beautiful Hungarian pineapple crochet round. Together, this assortment blends colorful cottage decor with rare heirloom needlecraft, making it a breathtaking, versatile display.

Personal story: Residing in Budapest, I source these handmade linens directly from Hungarian locals, bypassing middlemen and machine made replicas.

Size: Pineapple 31 cm, Square 24 x 24 cm, Flower 25 x 12 cm, Circle pair 20 cm

Condition: Vintage condition. The circular Kalocsa pair has a significant antiqued-grey tone, a patina of time. The square and lace doilies are off white in tone and the pineapple doily is a brighter white. Minor characteristics such as faint surface marks, a stray thread, or slight design variances may be present, serving as genuine hallmarks of its mid-century European heritage.

Care: Vintage textiles require specialized cleaning; please research the proper protocols if you wish to iron or clean this piece.

What is Csetneki Crochet Lace? Historically, this delicate flat-relief artistry represents Hungary's unique, early 20th-century answer to Irish crochet lace. Traditional Csetneki csipke pieces are celebrated for anchoring structured floral medallions inside a gossamer-fine netted background mesh, flawlessly framed by elaborate, fan-shaped scalloped border.
What is Pineapple Crochet Lace? Historically, this intricate openwork artistry represents one of the most beloved and globally recognized traditions in heritage crochet. Traditional pineapple lace pieces are celebrated for their radiating symmetry, starting from a central starburst or pinwheel and expanding into iconic, feather-shaped fan motifs that create a beautifully textured, wavy scalloped border.
What is Kalocsai? Kalocsai embroidery is a dazzling explosion of Hungarian spirit that transforms simple fabric into a colorful garden of wildflowers and sun-drenched peppers. While Kalocsa art began in the 19th century as simple white-on-white lace, it erupted into a vivid celebration of Hungarian pride, captured in every hand-stitched petal.
