"Dear Mthr / Thanks so much for little present awfully sweet I trust you are keeping well. I am pretty fair. Much love"

Scene: A tranquil, tree-lined thoroughfare. The tram tracks and cyclists captured in the illustration provide a window into Edwardian daily life just after the turn of the century.

The curb and posts are lined with glitter. Adding glitter (often called "tinsel" or "diamond dust" at the time) was a premium touch designed to catch the light and make the scene feel more magical.
