Vintage Banknote 1939 Greece 1000 Drachmai Parthenon Athena Greek Art Currency
This authentic 1939 Bank of Greece 1,000 Drachmai note represents the last major high-denomination issue printed by Greece right before the outbreak of World War II and the subsequent 1941 Axis occupation. Because many of these pre-war banknotes were hidden away, heavily inflated during the wartime years, or replaced during post-war monetary overhauls, they stand today as beautiful historical time capsules from a pivotal era in Greek history.
