Social History: The sender, "Mary," is vacationing in Deer Isle, Maine, and writes to Mrs. Robert Goldthwaite, who was staying at the Irene Byron Sanatorium in Fort Wayne, Indiana. At the time, Irene Byron was a major tuberculosis treatment facility. During the mid-20th century, Irene Byron was a prominent facility for the treatment of tuberculosis, making this a rare piece of Sanatorium Ephemera.

Scene: The front features the iconic Bunker Hill Monument in Charlestown Massachussetts, a "Tichnor Quality View" printed in Boston.
