This antique 50,000 Mark banknote was officially authorized on November 19, 1922, by the Imperial Bank Directorate in Berlin. Released during the opening phases of the catastrophic Weimar Republic hyperinflation crisis, this large-format note captures the rapid collapse of the German Papiermark.

Features a portrait of a merchant based on the famous 1521 painting "Portrait of Hans Imhoff the Elder" by German Renaissance master Albrecht Dürer.
