Antique Postcard 1920 Loch Achray Ben Venue Scottish Highlands Belfast England
Social History: Sent from Belfast, Ireland to Chas L. Hersey at 107 Erskine Park Rd., Rusthall, Tunbridge Wells, England:
"Certainly. We will expect you on Sunday morning D.V. about 8 am. It will be nice to meet again."
The use of "D.V." (Deo Volente—God willing) was a common Edwardian/WWI-era expression of humility regarding plans.
Scene: This scenic view captures the peaceful waters of Loch Achray framed by the mountain peak of Ben Venue, a quintessential subject of the Edwardian travel era in the Scottish Highlands.
Era: Divided Back
Size: Standard 3.5 x 5.5"
Type: Chromolithograph
Publisher: J.W.B. London (J. Welch & Sons)
Condition: Shows significant corner rounding and edge wear. There is a visible surface scuff on the top-right corner of the image side and light foxing/age-toning on the back, consistent with its 100+ year history
