Social History: The message from "Neva & Harry" to the Millers in Berkeley California, captures a classic 1960s vacation, mentioning staying at a motel overlooking the harbor and shopping for "woolens & tartans"—typical souvenirs of the era that emphasized Victoria's British heritage.

The handwritten message mentions the building is "outlined with lights in celebration of Canada's Centennial." Interestingly, the writer is slightly early, as the centennial was in 1967. However, the buildings were famously lit for Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in 1897 and became a nightly occurrence starting in 1965.

Postal History: The card features a distinctive slogan cancellation"7 Wonders of the World, 5 Wonders in Victoria." This was a famous tourism campaign used in the mid-20th century to promote Victoria's unique attractions.

Scene: The postcard showcases the iconic copper domes (which eventually turned green) and manicured grounds of the Parliament Buildings. The specific foreground of red and pink flowers was a signature aesthetic for Victoria's "Imperial Unity" and tourism campaigns of the mid-20th century.
