Social History: Sent to Mr Milo Wells, Wayne, Del. Co., Pa. Mailed on March 5, 1909, this directly documents the aftermath of the Presidential Inauguration of William Howard Taft, which took place just one day prior on March 4, 1909. The massive military parade down the city avenues clearly left a strong impression on the traveler:

"A good view of a part of the town. saw lots of troops today. John."

The scene features the iconic Luther Place Memorial Church with its towering spire, the bronze equestrian statue of Civil War Major General George Henry Thomas, and the statue of Martin Luther. Trolley streetcars and horse-drawn carriages travel the road.
