Social History: This card highlights the Perkin's and Vickery Blocks, the architectural heart of downtown Pittsfield in the early 20th century. The physical buildings you see were mostly razed during an urban renewal project in 1974.

The fact that the postcard was commissioned for H. H. Nutter's Rexall Store adds a layer of commercial history; Nutter was a prominent local pharmacist, and his store likely occupied one of the spaces shown on the front.

Scene: The image is a classic "Main Street USA" scene, featuring dirt roads, massive utility poles that showcase the town's modernization, and horse-drawn-era architecture. D.L. Ruen can be seen in the Perkin's Block.
