Vintage Postcard RPPC Wiscasset Ghost Ships Maritime Wiscasset Maine New England

This postcard captures a famous maritime landmark scene: the historic, decaying four-masted schooners resting in the harbor at Wiscasset, Maine. Abandoned in 1932, they became a legendary symbol of New England's maritime heritage. Because the rotting wrecks were structurally hazardous, the town completely demolished and cleared them away in 1998.
