This lot documents the early infrastructure boom of the Blue Ridge region of Shenandoah, Virginia, built largely during the Great Depression.
It captures landmarks like Mary's Rock Tunnel and the rustic architecture of Big Meadows Lodge. The cavern card features Stonewall Jackson's Grotto, a historical wonder used as a shelter by both Union and Confederate soldiers, many of whom carved their signatures into the stone walls during the Civil War.
