Social History: Sent from Portsmouth, New Hampshire, to Mrs. Ethel P. Gagnon, 16 Oakland Road, Sharon, Massachusetts:

"Dear Ethel: Arrived 6:15 and have been to the country looks lovely but it has been cool think getting warmer. Lena is making over some of my dresses and a new one. Do not know now just when I will be home am going down to Rye next week and Newington before I go home. Remember me to the children Boys and Clinton. Love and Best wishes, Jeannette"

Scene: Historic Court Street home, famously known as the "Nutter House" in Aldrich's semi-autobiographical 1870 novel, The Story of a Bad Boy. Established as a memorial in 1908 by the author's wife, this house was one of the first historic house museums in the United States dedicated to a literary figure.
