Social History: This 1911 postcard served as a handwritten invitation to a community picnic in La Vernia, Texas, offering a rare glimpse into early 20th-century Texas social life:

"Dear Friends. How are you all getting along hope fine. We have our picnic Thursday the 8 June be sure and come all to our picnic thursday. From Edna Schievelbein."

Scene: The "Gold Flower Series B" features an ornate, heavily embossed gold eagle soaring over a bed of vibrant purple lilacs. The front includes the quote: "To be angry with one we love is worse than sickness or pain."

Postal History: The card features a bold, clear circular La Vernia, Tex. postmark. La Vernia is a small rural historic town in Wilson County. It was mailed to Martha Mittelstadt in Seguin, Texas, a key trade center and destination for German immigrants traveling from coastal ports to the Hill Country at the time.
