Social History: The message is a classic "guilt trip" of the era, used to maintain relationships before telephones were common:

"Ethel. You see I don't forget you Why don't you write later"

Scene: "Dear old chum of other days / Have you forgotten quite / The good old times that we used to have? / If not, Why Don't You Write?" Features a charming, dark-silhouette graphic in the bottom right showing a small figure writing with a giant quill, reinforcing the card's plea for a letter.

Postal History: The card was processed twice in Chicago on the same trip:

Dauphin Park Station Hand-Stamp: A crisp circular date stamp (CDS) at 8:00 AM, representing its neighborhood point of origin

Chicago Main Post Office Machine Cancel: A later 1:00 PM time-marking machine strike on the front, applied as it reached the central sorting hub.

Era: Divided Back

Size: Standard 3.5 x 5.5"

Type: Lithograph

Publisher: Sandford Card Co., Dansville, N.Y.
