Social History: A warm message from "Sister Rose" to her brother Mike and his wife. This reference to Fort Pickett (now Fort Barfoot) adds a nice touch of military-family history:

"Hi Brother Mike & Pearl. We were here Sunday also to Blackwater Falls. Mary & Rick were here. Frances got back from Summer Camp she was at Ft Pickett Va. for 2 ½ weeks. I had a good time while she was gone. Love Sister Rose."

Scene: Our Lady of the Pines, famously known as the "Smallest Church in 48 States," located at Silver Lake, West Virginia. Built in 1958, this tiny sanctuary seats about 12 people. The front image showcases the charming landscape, including a miniature windmill, a deer, and the church nestled in the pines.

Postal History: This card features a rare machine cancellation on the front of the image from North East, PA. This occurred when the card was accidentally fed into the sorting machine face-up, leaving the "wavy lines" across the scenic view. The back features a purple hand-stamped "X" cancellation over the stamp, a common manual method used by postal workers when the sorting machine misses the mark.

Era: Modern Chrome

Size: Standard 3.5 x 5.5"

Type: Photochrome

Publisher: P.L. Milkint, Horse Shoe Run, W. Va

Condition: Postally used. The card has a unique "over-stamped" appearance due to the cancellation on the front. Light edge wear.
