Social History: This is a genuine government-issued pre-stamped postal card (postal stationery) written and sent within Ohio in September 1902. The card features an extensive, beautifully preserved handwritten message documenting a historic community celebration involving local church history and town musical bands:

"Dear Mr. Linke: I just came from Rv. J. G. Johanson, Luckey, at his request & learn if you will bring as many of the Woodville Band as possible to HESSVILLE, Emmanuel Lutheran Church, NEXT SUNDAY Sept. 21 for a concert on the Church Lawn from 1:00 or 1:30 & about 2:30. Rev. Johanson says his members will co-operate with you. Some of his Band members have returned to College etc. so he does not have a sufficient number. Emmanuel Lutheran Church at Hessville, will celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Emigration beginning next Sunday. Rev. Johanson is a Former Pastor at Hessville and was to have provided the Concert. If possible at all bring as much of a Band as you can and come for dinner 12:00 - 1:00. Sincerely, Rev. A. W. LYNN. Wed 6/89"

Size: Standard 3.5 x 5.5"
