Both notes share a regal portrait of Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said, the beloved, transformative modernizer who ruled Oman for nearly half a century. The 100 Basia note features a Verreaux's Eagle alongside an Arabian Oryx. The 1/2 Rial note features the historic Bahla Fort, a spectacular 13th-century clay fortress and UNESCO World Heritage site.
