"July 17 - 1939. Well, my dear here I am once more, in this beautiful spot and wishing for you this perfect day. The Whites met my train & brought me here. I invited them to stay to dinner & it was 10:30 P.M. when they left. Met several of their friends from Sacramento, one a very interesting man. Tell Mrs. Collins please, at dinner last night nearly everyone danced the Rhumba, she must keep up. There is a young very gay crowd here. I have met several pleasant people. I see it will not be easy to rest as I really want to do. Quite a few improvements have been made here. Lots of loving wishes from B. S. Gruff."
