Social History: Addressed to Mr. H. P. Larsen, 813 South Broadway, Green Bay, Wisconsin:

"Kaere Bedstefader, Mama er bedre men svag Doktaren var her i söndags da havde hun kun 1/2 Grad Feber da kommer vel nu paa Lördag Venlig hilsen fra os alle. Ellen"

"Dear Grandfather, Mama is better but weak. The doctor was here on Sunday when she had only 1/2 degree fever. She will likely come now on Saturday. Kind regards from all of us. Ellen"

Scene: The front image features a sharp, colorized view of the stone Post Office building. A tiny but significant detail is the solitary man in a suit and hat standing at the main entrance.

Settled heavily by Danish immigrants in the mid-19th century, the village of Denmark maintained a vibrant cultural identity well into the 20th century. This building was the civic heart of the community.
