Social History: These cards served a unique community purpose. Before digital privacy laws, the Hospital Auxiliary sent these "notification cards" to local churches (the Methodist Church in Paint Rock and Eden Methodist Church) to alert the pastors that members of their congregation (Gordon Peck and Hazel D. Le Feure) were in the hospital and might need a visit or prayers.

These are fantastic pieces of West Texas history, connecting three small towns: San Angelo, Paint Rock, and Eden.

Scene: This Grotto was the focal point of the hospital's Marshall Pavilion. It was built in 1950 by Mr. and Mrs. John Marshall and is a replica of the famous shrine in France. St. John's was famously operated by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word.

Era: Chrome (1939-present)

Size: Standard 3.5 x 5.5"

Condition: The handwriting is in bold blue and red ink, very legible. No significant creases or tears. One card has a brown stain at the signature.

This is an authentic vintage item. Use the zoom tool to inspect the photos for a detailed view of the condition.
