Originally printed in 1948 as a contingency, these "3rd Series" vouchers were kept in high-security storage until the sudden outbreak of the Suez Crisis in 1956. As British troops mobilized to secure the Suez Canal, these notes were rushed into circulation to manage military spending and prevent local currency inflation in the conflict zone.

Because they were used for such a brief, intense window of history, finding a consecutive, uncirculated set like this is like holding a "time capsule" from one of the most pivotal geopolitical standoffs of the Cold War.

  • Serial Numbers: E/1 983989, E/1 983990, E/1 983991 (Consecutive Run)
  • Denomination: One Pound (£1)
  • Note Size: Approximately 138 mm x 69 mm
  • Condition: Uncirculated (UNC). Original, crisp paper with sharp corners and vibrant pink/brown/purple ink.
  • Security: Features the authentic solid metal security thread.

These vouchers were an emergency issue used only by British forces stationed abroad. A must-have for collectors of Military Payment Certificates (MPC), Cold War militaria, or British numismatics.
