Social History: Mailed to Mrs. E. Graham in Stirling, Scotland, The handwritten message is a classic traveler's "dispatch" from a Nile cruise:

"I am now sailing up the River Nile to the First Cataract at Aswan, having spent some time in Cairo. The archaeological remains are quite amazing—in their scale and antiquity. Cousin Jean."

Scene: Mural from the Tomb of Amen-her-Khovsef (QV55) in the Valley of the Queens, Luxor. This 20th-dynasty masterpiece depicts the young prince, son of Ramesses III, being presented to the gods, showcasing the incredibly well-preserved pigments that the Valley of the Queens is famous for.
