Quartz is also known as “Rock Crystal.” Rock Crystal is the clear white Quartz at its purest form.
Impurities and inclusions give the Quartz family the greatest variety of crystals (including Rose Quartz, Amethyst, Tigers Eye, Aventurine, Citrine, Rutilated Quartz, etc). Quartz is the most common mineral in the Earth’s crust. 70% of the land we walk on is from Quartz or some form of silicates.
Quartz can be formed through igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic processes. Quartz is found in fissures in sandstones, cavities in marbles, druses in pegmatites and in septaria as shiny diamond-like crystals (like Herkimer Diamonds). It forms in clusters, gigantic single points (a single crystal was found in Kazakhstan at 70 tons) and massive rocks. The clearest Quartz comes from Arkansas because it has no rock base; just the points join together crystallizing in different directions. Milky Quartz grows from a common base and is filled with inclusions, planes and veins. Fine fractures, thin films of air interfere with light create beautiful rainbow planes.
Quartz is very weather resistant. When bedrock erodes, Quartz finds its way to rivers where it is the main component of pebbles, sand and gravel. It is a 7 on the Mohs Scale of Hardness.
Clear Quartz is impressive, but milky to white Quartz can contain a lot of information to a healer. Using it for energy healing can turn clear Quartz cloudy and milky quartz clear over time. Quartz is known as the Master Healing crystal. It aids self-healing and channels high frequency to the physical plane. Quartz vibrates clear white light which contains all the colors, and is therefore perfect to balance all the chakras and fills the aura with optimism and joy.
Clear Quartz has a yang energy, while milky Quartz has a yin energy. It is the intermediate between the visible and invisible worlds, an instrument of clairvoyance.
Energetically, Quartz amplifies and clarifies:

·
Hold Quartz to double your aura’s strength, as proved by the Kirlian Aura Camera.

·
Drink a gem elixir to stimulate the immune system: An ancient Celtic remedy: drink the water in which 9 Quartz points have been boiled for 9 consecutive days.
·
Place under an old pet’s bed to give them more energy.
·
Channel spirit guides with Quartz sacred shapes like the merkaba, icosahedron or pyramid.
·
Place over wounds to soothe burns.
·
Place on the neck for the thyroid, heart for the thymus and ears for alignment.
·
Point Quartz towards the body to energize, away from the body to release excess energy.
·
Use Crystal Balls for gazing/scrying.

Every day uses of Quartz – Quartz is used in optical components like lenses and prisms, ingredient in paints, glass abrasives. It is used in sandpaper, soap, ceramics. The regular, predictable electric pulses that Quartz emits makes it a wonderful crystal for electronics like clocks, computers, TV’s. Synthetic Quartz has replaced natural Quartz in oscillators for electronics.

Personal Experience – Personally I use Quartz pendulums during crystal healing sessions to check the energy flow of the client’s chakras. Quartz is very accurate in reading energies and can tell which chakras are blocked. I then use Quartz generator wands to open the blocked chakras. I also keep a very large Quartz cluster to charge my crystals and purify the home’s atmosphere.
Jewelry – Quartz is a very popular stone found in crystal healing jewelry. Smooth Quartz beads make great bracelets, necklaces and earrings. Natural Quartz points and clusters make brilliant pendants.
Beware of mistaking Quartz for Glass or Lead Crystal, which has not healing life force in itself, but will naturally imbue with the wearer’s energies over time.
